Proactiv and other Tuesday ramblings

Happy BEAUTIFUL Tuesday morning to you guys!! It's another gorgeous morning here in Sacramento.

So a few posts back, I mentioned that I have been using a Murad face wash to combat this acne that decided to grace my face (6 months POST going off BC mind you, so it really threw me for a loop). It really has done wonders. It's cleared up the major breakouts, but I still am getting new undergrounder zit, boo!! It's horrible! When I was on my birth control, my face was super clear and I felt like I could go w/out concealer and I NEVER wore foundation. So the stuff that's happening now, is just not okay.

I had a few friends who used Proactiv in high school and had great results (as well as Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Julianne Hough). My only concern was that when I got pregnant, would it be okay to use still? After much research (what would I do without google?!), it's totally safe to use and in fact, I read a couple reviews from women who used it during their pregnancy breakouts, and it worked wonderfully. So I ordered it! I am SO excited to try this bad boy product out. I want to kick this last bit of acne to the curb and have really good skin for the summer time. Who wants to wear a butt ton of concealer during the hot summer days and nights? Not me!

Onto other things: Nick signed all his paperwork for his new job :)!! We are truly so blessed, and God really does answer prayers. He starts tomorrow, woo hooo!!!

Yesterday as promised, I stuck to my workout schedule for Monday (snaps for Karli!) Nick and I went on our run/ride since it was just so nice outside. However, I was not the smartest of girls, and I totally didn't hydrate enough before the run. So when I should have looked like this:

I looked like this:

Get the picture? I stopped I think 2-3 times during our run, since one of dehydration's side effects are nausea, BUT who do I see running by us with ease? A young woman in nothing but her perfect sports bra and her perfect matching shorts, pushing her perfect jogging stroller. Oh and there was a baby in the stroller. Oh and the woman...HAD A 6 PACK! So I dug down deep into my motivational running quotes bank in my brain, and pushed through the nausea and sweat and thirst (do not attempt at home :) ). I made it though! Nick was so proud and even started the shower for me cause he loves me like that...or thinks I stink, lol. So I ran about 3.5 miles yesterday and today it's back to the office (aka, the gym) for upper body and another 3 miles on Tread.

What have YOU done today to make you feel proud?

Oh how I missed you Jillian

Yesterday felt great! Nick texted me on his way home and told me he was just not wanting to go to the gym after 6 (the time he is getting home this week), so I decided to do my own little workout in my living room. It was seriously, a major struggle to do the whole thing, but I did it and I can definitly feel it in my upper body this morning. I never include pushups in my regular upper body routine, so when I do them, I feel em' baby!

Since Nick won't want to go to the gym after work today either, I am heading there after work with the rest of the world who gets off at that time. I am dreading it just cause I know it's gonna be so crowded, but Im excited because today Im focusing on lower body. Like I said yesterday, Saturday will be my lower body day, but I'm doubling it up this week (GO ME!). Oh and I forgot to include in my weekly workout schedule, that I've been walking roughly 3.4 miles with the girls at work on our lunch break. It's amazing! I missed how at my last job in NC, I could do that due to the convenince of the park being right next to it. My guess is it's about a 200 calorie burn :)

It has come to my attention, that on top of losing my tan slowly but surely (buying 20 tans on Saturday!!!), I am noticing my lower abdomen flabbing it up, which is a no go. My eating has been really clean lately (haven't had Taco Bell in a week or so). I think it's time to.....cut my coffee intake, EEEK! I didn't drink coffee in the AM's until I moved back to CA. I was a green tea girl to the fullest. Im sure the coffee, ontop of my Fat Free Vanilla Creamer is the culprit. So, my plan of attack is: 2-3 cups in the morning, THATS IT! Then in the morning when I get to work, it's green tea. Not only does green tea have great antioxidants, but it's also been linked to flatten that tummy (*NOTE- YOU CANNOT EAT MCDONALDS AND DRINK GREEN TEA AND MAGICALLY GET A 6 PACK..A 6 PACK OF FRIES IS ALL YOU'Ll GET). I am on day 1 of my plan of attack as I type :) I have missed green tea.... :)

So remember how I told you all about Nick's job interview? Well, we are SOOOO close to finding out if he got it or not. A pretty high up guy came up to him yesterday after work and congratulated him on getting the position even! Nick told the guy he hadn't heard he was offered the job, and I guess the guy looked kinda confused and gave Nick the look like "you didn't hear it from me" HAHA. I know we'll hear something after today, so be ready for a celebratory post :D

Well folks, it's Wednesday aka hump day, aka another day, another dollar. Can't wait until 4pm, and then it's go time!

Top of the mornin to ya

Good morning and happy Saturday - By this time next Saturday, I will be thankful for the weekend, since I will one again be part of the millions of people who go to work Monday through Friday :) The thought of working doesn't make me smile, but the $2 pay increase (and money in general), going into my bank account will make me smile. I calculated it and I'll be making about $300 more a month than I was at the last job. Not too shabby if you ask me. Nick and I will be stashing that money. As I have mentioned in a previous blog, Nick is a penny pincher and I LOVE IT! He is always checking our bank account, paying things off as soon as we get money in and we have more money in our account than we have had in MONTHS! Muy bueno!

So get ready to once again hear about another NEW job and it's adventures and quirks. And honestly, I prefer jobs that I have found on my own and not through a hiring agency. Although, my last job in CA that was like that was the CPA firm where my boss turned out to be an embezzler...hmmmm......Update on that though - the local newspaper and news have reported that he is currently on a house arrest sorta deal till his trial, whenever that may be.

Oh and I have to review 2 products for you all (*I was not given any of these products for free or was asked by the companies to do a review- these reviews are based on my own trial and error)

My lower chin, jaw has been breaking out like it's going out of style and I can't figure out why. The only thing I could think of, was I had quit fake and baking (due to money and the whole wants vs. necessity's convo with Nick), and the tanning usually dried them up once they popped up. My diet has not changed in the least bit, and according to one of my good friends who is an Esthitician, it's due to my hormones (I guess that area of your face is connected with them). Since I have been off birth control for about 6 months now, she thinks my body is still getting used to having to produce it's own hormones. My answer to this? Whatever- just want them off my friggin face! It's gross, and I never really have had anything but clear skin. I wanted something that was going to dry those bad boys out and make them wish they never popped up on my face. I remember when I worked at a day spa in Raleigh, there was a product line called Murad, created by a Dr. Murad. They have an acne line that the girls there used to recommend, so I headed to Ulta ASAP. I walked away with:
Murad Acne Clarifying Cleanser

The rating: 9 out of 10. I have only been using it for about 5 days and I can already see a difference. It has a cooling effect when you rinse your face that calms irritation and my face feels so clean afterwards. I use it 1x in the morning after the gym, and 1x at night when I wash off my make up. I will do another review of it in about 2 weeks. This bad boy runs a bit on the expensive side, if your like me who is used to paying $6 for Neutrogena, but this was an emergency and I felt like a hormonal teenager and something needed to be done quick!

Then there is this little gem:

Murad Acne Spot Treatment

I have used this little baby for years whenever a pesky PMS zit would pop up, and it did really well frying the sucker and erasing it from my face in no more than 3 days flat (with continuous use). So about 3 times this week, I have dabbed a bit on my problem areas and slept with it on, and it's done wonders! The zits I've had have gone down noticeably and the redness is disappearing. I'm giving this product a 10 out of 10 because I have used it for so long and know it works.

A few blogs back I was looking for a sunless tanner and Kristen recommended Arbonne Sunless tanner (she sells Arbonne products just FYI) and I thought why not? There was a money back guarantee and it's gonna be a whole lot better for my skin and the whole aging process.

I am rating it a 8 out of 10. Unlike other sunless tanners, I have no experienced the orange tint or the spottiness. It goes on evenly (if applied and rubbed in like you would lotion), and the color last for a good week (I applied it twice over 2 days). My knees, elbows, and ankles have had no issues with the "Darker orange" effect brought on by most sunless tanners. Not only that it, is safe when you are pregnant, which is great for me because I am not one who would do good with being one with nature and going au natural for pregnancy (I know, it sounds vain, but I promise, I'm not THAT vain). The only reason I am not giving it a 10 out of 10 is because it takes a good 40 minutes (At least that's what I experienced), for it to be completely dry. I normally just get out of the shower and spray it on so it has about an hour and a half to dry before I head out to work.

So there you have it ladies - my new favorite products :) Do you have any products you think I should know about? C'mon ladies, whats your favorite must have product?

Holy moly, PRAISE THE LORD!

It's a beautiful day! The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, I am still being paid for my soon to be ex job, Nick and I have a control of our finances, Daisy is doing SPLENDID and making a total turn around, Kirstie Ally is finally getting that weight off, and.....I GOT 2 CALLS FOR INTERVIEWS TODAY! ALL WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF EACH OTHER! K so let me 'splain-

I got a call from an agent at a hiring agency for a job I applied for on Monster yesterday. So long story short, I called her this morning and she assured me she thinks I would be a great canidate for a few of her open positions and she would like to meet with me ASAP to get all the necessary paperwork done to get the ball rolling on finding a position. Not only is she confident that I could be placed in a position by next week, she thought it would be NO problem making the kind of salary I would like to be making! Naturally, I was jumping up and down and was so ecstatic! Thankfully today is Nick's day off and he was there to watch me actin-a-fool. So I have an interview with her TODAY at 1:30!! I am being 110% open and honest with my current bosses and have told them I have an interview, but will be back (or at least try) before the work day is done.

Theeen while packing my lunch after I got off the phone, the phone rang and on caller ID, the number came up as "1000". Telemarketer (or so I thought). I NEVER answer these sort of things, but I did, and who announced themselves as soon as I said "Hello?". Why a Jenny Craig human resource consultant of course!! They receieved my resume and my questions I filled out online, and want to meet with me on the 23rd at 4pm!! This position would allow me to deal with the one thing I'm passionate about and love talking about: weightloss and healthy living. I know I'd be dealing with Jenny Craig products, and being a counselor sort of person for people who are partaking in the JC program, so I have to do some more research before my interview so I am plenty prepared. I have a feeling I would be making less, BUT it's something I would love doing, so we'll just see how it goes. If Nick gets a higher up job at his company (that he applied to and is confident in getting), then we would be making a significant amount of more money, which in turn would make up for what I wasn't making.

All I'm saying is God is good and provides people! Just 1 week ago TODAY in fact, I was crying, my life was thrown off it's path, I didn't know what the world had in store for me. I still don't due to all the wonderful opportunies presenting themselves, but I know that there ARE opportunies and dispite what my miniature friend says, the sky is NOT falling!

Workout today consisted of nada! Nick and I don't have the same days off, so it was nice to sleep in (till 6am) with him. Since my 10K is fastly approaching, it's time to really get in those miles so here is a sample of my new workout plan that mostly focuses on running.

Sunday: Run/ride with Nick------6.2 miles
Monday: Elliptical for 15 minutes and leg day
Tuesday: Run 3.5 miles and abs
Wednesday: Elliptical for 15 minutes and upper body strength training
Thursday: Run 4.5 miles and abs
Friday: REST
Saturday: Run 5 miles and find a way to squeeze in a nap
= 19.2 miles a week

This is my plan for until April 11th. The week before the race, I will take the miles down a bit of course, as to not strain my muscles or get that "burned out" on running feeling.

Enjoy this GORGEOUS day and I will be sure to blog about my interview with the hiring agency tomorrow AM :)

I'm stronger than yesterday

I'm going to open this blog with a question- do any of you who go to church, notice that when you go, the message always seems to pertain to what is going on in your life at the moment? It ALWAYS seems to happen and I have to laugh to myself and praise God that I came, because I need some help. With all the things that have been going on in my life lately, my soul felt a lot more at ease. The message that was being preached yesterday: DEALING WITH STRUGGLES- HA! Sounds familiar?

Now- back to the nitty gritty. WELCOME TO MONDAY! I am going into this week positive and upbeat and optimistic. I am actively/aggressively looking for a job that will be a great fit into my life and I actually have something that's come up. It's a position for a Health/Weight loss consultant and I have a webinar/phone conference that explains more about it on Tuesday. I'm sort of skeptical of it, just because in the back of my mind, I think it might be one of those scams, BUT I'm trying to be hopeful about it since it would be a great fit for my life and what I would be happy doing. I will be sure to let everyone know how it went on my Wednesday morning post. I have also applied for a consultant position for Jenny Craig near my apartment, and I think that would just be such a rewarding and fun job. A representative will be calling me if I am a match, so say some prayers :)

Not only that, I have a sit down planned with my boss regarding the nanny position for her 2 year old daughter tomorrow, so I will fill you all in on that :) It would really be a great position, but I have 3 reserves:
1. If the pay will be enough. I have a feeling the position would be less than 8 hours a day and if so, I am praying my boss offers me more pay to compensate.
2. My boss is very strict on what her daughter eats (organic, no processed sorta thing, which I can TOTALLY respect since I am conscious of what I eat), and then her sister (who just so happens to work in our office), is very picky on the activities that my bosses daughter partakes in. I have a lot of fun things in mind (parks, trips to the zoo, crafts, etc.), so I'm hoping that I can live up to the standards.
And lastly, I've never been a nanny as a job position. I don't know why the fact that I've never done it before scares me, but I guess it's that unknown/doubting myself that comes out. Truthfully, I think I would ROCK at the position. I don't have a problem with kids and honestly, I have a lot of fun seeing things through kids eyes and just having fun with them...BUT...it's the "What ifs" that make me nervous. Like what if the child has a complete meltdown (which COULD and probably will happen at some point) and all she wants is her mom? I just have to take a deep breath and know that it's new, different, and I can do it and to QUIT doubting myself! Can anyone relate? Do you ever doubt yourself? This also pertains to workout out- sometimes when I set out to do a large number of miles on Tread, I doubt that I can finish when I've proved to myself time and time again, I CAN do anything I put my mind to!

*************************************************************************************
Workout today consisted of 2 miles and strength training with my legs. Yesterday Nick (since it's no secret anymore of what his name is :) ), was so worn out from his day at work yesterday (he's on a 8 day straight work week, BLAH!), he opted we rescheduled the run/ride to today. So total, I will have run about 7 miles! WOO HOO!!! Theeeeen we're coming home to Buffalo burgers & sweet potato fries!! MMMMM. I got them at Trader Joes, and Nick has always loved buffalo burgers. Whenever we go to his native Colorado, he gets them whenever he can. It's very rare we find buffalo burgers on the menus here in California. I am actually VERY excited, cause this whole week, Spring will grace us with it's presence. 70 degrees all across the board baby! Even the weekend is lookin uh-mazing! Am I the only one who plans for the weekend to come when it's only Monday?

Have a beautiful, POSITIVE, and amazing Monday gorgeous readers!

I got it!!

So before I even start this blog, you must know all your prayers and thoughts worked...I GOT THE JOB I interviewed for!! E-yo! More on that later on..just keep reading for now :)
So the time has come to take my butt back to the gym! It's about time. The cold lingered for a good 2 weeks and then with moving and packing and then totally tweaking out my back, it made it impossible. Turns out, my back is starting to feel better, so I am most def taking full advantage of it. So I am hitting the gym tomorrow and getting ready there in the morning. After the gym, I'll be heading to....... MY NEW JOB!! BOO YA! The interview went so good & the office is gorgeous! It's a small office with mostly girls my age & it sounds like a fairly easy job and the location couldn't get better! It'll be roughly a 15-18 minute drive to mine and N's new apartment. I couldn't be happier! When one door closes, another one opens. And my new supervisor has 2 miniature wiener dogs just like my Daisy Mae (who is loving the new comfy couches, btw). We had a good chat about our babies and in my mind, we connected like soul mates over our love for our German doggies.
But no joke, I am SO excited to get into my new gym schedule down now that we are just right down the road from it. My plan is to do like I did back in North Cackalacky and go to the gym before work. Except the gym here doesn't make me shiver when I think about showering, so I'll be taking full advantage of their exclusive locker room. Since my back is still a tad tender, I just plan on running and doing some lower body work. I wanna run a 3 miler so bad. No clue why thinking about killing myself on a rubber track excites me so much, but it gets me more excited then news of Octomom getting her tubes tied.

I really need to get this Operation healthiest/fittest as possible before baby comes on the road!

Photobucket

And we're back

So today's workout consisted of unpacking a bunch of boxes that consisted of my clothes and a little box that consisted of N's. What's a girl to do- that's how it's supposed to be right? The girl has TONS of clothes and shoes and the guy gets this tiny little spot? I would gladly share the beautimous walk in closet space with N, but he really isn't much a "what hot outfit can I put together today" kinda guy.

To be honest- I was not in the mood to run or shred or wake up. My back was/is a total mess. I broke the cardinal rule yesterday and I lifted with my back and not my legs! What the heck folks?! So tonight unpacking boxes has been killer, but I'm taking it easy with my legs propped up on our beautiful new $30 pine coffee table (Craigslist people! It's where all the loot's at), and I'm kickin back on our new couches with N and his bff (Mr. X Box) and of course Daisy Mae. She is such an explorer and N and I agreed that I shoulda named her Dora the Explorer, but let's be honest, this weeny came before the cartoon (that's what she said).

I hate it say it cause it's a new year (new goals, new races, new hair extensions for Kate Gosslin),
but my workouts have been horrible this year. I was sick with a HORRIBLE upper chest cold, and now that I'm over it, my back is killin like a villain. So tomorrow there shall be no workouts, cause I don't think I just lifted wrong, I think I actually pulled my lower back. No bueno. But for the most part, we are unpacked, so I can just take it easy and hopefully land this new job I am going for tomorrow. YES- you read me right, I am interviewing for yet ANOTHER job! You may be asking yourself, "Didn't she already have a fabulous job lined up last time I read". The answer- yes! BUT, things change. Long story short- the corporate office at the company (and there are a bajillion corporate offices for this company- they are worldwide), is supposed to be approving my offer letter and they just haven't come through yet. My supposed to be new manager, is SUPER DUPER sweet and she really wants things to work out and she's been really good keeping in touch with me, and even she doesn't know what the hold up is. So, I think it's best to kick this Popsicle stand and hit the road. Cause mama needs some money like Lady Gaga needs a mirror.

So, I have a great job interview lined up that one of my hiring agent's set up for me. It's a great development company and it's in a great location considering where our new place is. It'll take me like 15 minutes to get to work (LOVE IT!).

So on that note, it's been a long day, but I look forward to letting you all know how it went tomorrow when I get home.

Stay beautiful lovelies!!

Greetings from sunny California

We woke up on Monday morning to this

My parents yard/pasture

The Bunny Boo having fun with the doggies

The vegetable garden

While N had to go support his unemployed wife, I and most of the family spent that first day trying not to freeze to death and did a lot of this:

It was beautiful and such a big surprise. Surprised like all the men in America were when they learned that their beloved Megan Fox has toe's for thumbs

The snow made the roads ridiculous! The main road that my parent’s house is off of, looked like something out of a movie! Trees were down in the middle of the roads & bushes were just hanging off of power lines. I don't mean just little wispy tree's either. I mean hundreds of years old oak trees. So our power was out for a total of 2.5 days and I have to say thank God N and I have a gym with a shower cause we were gettin ripe! It was a lot of fun just having candles and everyone gathering around the fire for warmth, er I mean fun, and living like the pioneer's did. It made for an early bedtime since I couldn't watch The Hills or my new personal fav, Jersey Shore.
So ladies and gents, another year of brown hair is coming to an end. For some reason, the blonde in my hair pokes through the brown no matter how many times I go sit in the chair (and pull out the credit card), and my roots are starting to show now that I am OD'ing on prenatal and biotin. My hair grows FAST which is what I want, but my wallet and N are not as understanding to the monthly hair appointments. So, I will be seeing my hair magician sometime before this month ends to get a bajillion blonde highlights put all over my hair. N says he is ready for his blonde wifey again. He has decided that he likes me best blonde. He has a true appreciation for the California girl design: D

Another topic I would like to discuss with you peeps: working out! Since I am still unemployed, I will be making my fitness a first thing in the morning type of deal, like I did when we first got back to California. With the power being out and it being so cold and crazy on the roads these past couple of days, I only went for a short run and went to the gym once and ran a 5K and lifted some weights, so I am most def slacking. On top of eating take out most nights since we didn't have power. So the rest of my week will look like this:

Tomorrow- shred with Jillian in the morning & hit the gym for a nice 3 mile run after my INTERVIEW (Scroll down to the next paragraph to read about it)

Friday - I have nothing planned except getting things ready for Bestie since we were 4 years olds baby shower on Saturday. So I will be going to the gym for a 1 hour yoga class and doing a nice 1 mile run after. Then when I get home - SHRED!

Saturday - Run 3 miles outside before the baby shower so I don't feel guilty when I drink a few insanely delicious margaritas (yes, you read that right: margaritas (non for the mother to be) at a baby shower)

Sunday - A brisk 2 mile run prior to church and then......WE ARE GETTING OUR CHRISTMAS TREE!!!! SO SO SO SO EXCITED!! I have waited for this day all year!!

Now the interview?! you may be asking yourself? Yes, I have an interview with a promising company tomorrow at 10 am! If I get this job, N and I will most def be moving into our apartment & the benefits of this position will be way better than the benefits my previous job offered, so I am praying that I get this. Not only that, but its in a beautiful area AND it will only be 1 exit up the freeway from our apartment and since I am always looking forward, I yahoo! mapped it. It will be approximately 12 minutes from our house, boo ya! Prayers this way please :)

I will be sure to fill you all in on the job tomorrow lovelies

Big news, big changes

Today's work out consisted of 3.4 miles on my boyfriend, Tread and boy was it good to see him! I haven't seen him on a regular basis in a few months since I've been working and by the time I get home, I don't have time. BUT I have time now! Wanna know whyyy? I am now unemployed! EEEEK. Long story short, the company I worked for has to sell the company cause they weren't doing too well. Truthfully (since this is MY blog and after all its more of a diary, so why not keep it real witcha), My first intital reaction was to cry. However, after that first 2 seconds of shock wore off, I started to realize that out of all the people who work there, I am the most fortunate. I only had 8 people in my office, including myself, and I am the only who who isn't a single mother, isn't expecting a baby, isn't the main source of income for their family, and isn't responsible for paying a mortgage/rent. Its easy to look at the bad sad of things when things like this happen. Sure N and I won't be able to move into our apartment YET (but we will, don't you worry. That same complex too), but really I need to buck up and know that things could always be worse. On top of that, this blogger believes that EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON! Good or bad, there is always a reason and being the Christian that I am, I am trusting God has a plan for me people! Can I get an Amen?!?!?!

This up side of this is that I finally get to sleep in and thank God for that, because my body has been battling something like nothing before for the past 2 weeks. My bodies defense system is Chuck Norris and this bug is an enemy about to be broken down!

Oh and another amazing benefit for being unemployed? I get to run till my legs fall off when I feel inclined to run and workout. Today, I hit the rubber belt for a sweet and easy 3.4 miles! Yes people, I can wake up and take my sweet ass time and lounge until that running bug hits me and I can either choose between a session with Tread OR I can take my motivated butt to the gym! AH HA! Love the word: CHOOSE- You can bet your bottom dollar I'll be milking my unemployment until I find work. That's another thing- back to the craigslist, careerbuilder, monster, snagajob ads 24/7. Back to starting a new job and getting familiar with people again, BLAH! It'll be okay, things could always be worse right?

Well hello Monday morning

Its here again! MONDAY!!! N woke up and went to work!! Yay for N!! Even though the drive is a little bit of a commute, I know he enjoys working now. I on the other hand am continuing my job search as a I lay here in bed. I woke up when N did, and can't go back to sleep, which is odd since I had some wine last night and that usually always makes me pass out after 1 glass ( I know, I am a light weight).

So yesterday my boyfriend whom I keep in the back room, was calling my name so loud! "KARLI!! YOU BETTER GET IN HERE AND RUN!!" I kept that door shut. I tried to tell him, "Tred Mill, I have ran 3 miles from Tuesday to Saturday faithfully, but he wasn't satisfied. He wanted more than that and when I told him that Saturday I had actually ran outside, well then I could tell he was jealous. So today I HAVE to visit him, and I am sure he is going to take out all of his aggression on me every second of those 3 miles!

So how was your weekend beautifuls? Mine was pretty uneventful. We rented I love you, man and it had some funny parts, but I would rate it a 6 outta 10. It didn't have me rolling on the floor. On Saturday I went for a run in the country (much better than watching tv while your run)for about 35 minutes(it was SOOOO HOT!!), then I came back and washed my car since it was a mess, then layed out by the pool. It was most def a hot one and a made for working on your tan. Sunday was church and laying out again :) Man it's gonna be a harsh wake up call when I work (But the paycheck/security) will make up for it all :D

Have a GREAT Monday lovelies!

Productive Friday!

I love La Bou. I feel for any of you who don't have a La Bou, as I was once one of those people. NOT ANYMORE THOUGH!!! I met my Bestie Bon Bon for lunch today and had a delicious turkey on wheat w/avacado, lettuce, tomato and onion. SOOO delicious!! Then I got a half garden salad that had tomato, avocado and the usual lettuce and such. In the words of Rachel Ray, "Yum-O"! Bon Bon and I pretty much closed the place down too!! We were there from 12 to 3:15 and the closed at 4:30! There is nothing like 2 girls when they get talking and laughing.

I had an interview call today!! Next Tuesday at 2:30!! Its for a CPA firm and its not too far from my house which is amazing!! That's what I've been looking for! Something not too far and pays great. I am trying not to get my hopes up, but I've never NOT gotten my hopes up. Just the ABC's of me baby!

Today N started his new job!! So exciting! He said it went great and next week will be is offical 1st whole week working. Today was more of orientation where he got his clearence badge and stuff. Totally off topic, but man I hope I get a job next week. I had a feeling something good was coming this week so I'm thinking that good feeling was connected to this interview I have on Tuesday. Also my hiring agency also submitted my resume to another place today, so hopefully I wil be getting an email with that company soon too! Things are really starting to look up! :)

I hope you all have a great weekend!! I will let you all know how the interview goes!
XOXOXO

Sushi and jobs

How was everyone's Wednesday? Mine is slowly winding down here at la casa de California Dreamin. Today was a day at one of my favorite places. COSTCO!!! I could do some major damage at Costco, but I was good and got a book:

I am only on page 10, but I can tell this is going to be a really good book. A deep/makes you think, but makes you laugh book. Sorta an oxymoron, but I promise you that is a good description. The word on the grapevine is that Julia Roberts is filming the movie right now, so its the perfect time to read the book before watching the movie. The books are usually always better than the movie anyways. Its a great book to read out while I lay out and soak up the sun.

So last night when I said I was going to Thai, we ended up going to a Japanese restaurant instead that was right next door. My Bunny Boo loves Mi so Soup and that was the whole reason we wanted Asian food last night, so when the Thai place said they didn't have Miso Soup, we headed over to the Japanese place. I ordered the most amazing sushi! I will say right now that whenever I can get fresh sushi, I do. That store bought stuff is NOT real. I like a good California roll here and there, but for the most part, it doesn't cut it. I ordered a roll that had white fin tuna, avocado, and white fish. 8 pieces total for a awesome dinner. We got to sit outside and enjoy the nice breeze and I of course had to order a glass of Cabernet. We all decided that we will most def be coming back. The service was great and they gave Bunny Boo all the miso soup her heart desired! They even gave her a "to go" cup FREE!! The price wasn't bad either and they give HUGE portions. The place was called Kobe Sushi Bar and Grill for all of you guys in California.

So I am sitll looking for jobs....I get offered certain jobs and they just don't sound promising or like something that would be good to start and then once I find something better, leave it. A few of them that have been brought to my attention have been from the hiring agencies, so I feel bad for turning them down, but I have to stay true to me and what I'D be happy with, you know? My dad keeps telling me that in time, I will get a good job, and you can't rush time, but cmon, time.....it's me, Karli, you are lagging on me big time!! Lets get a good job pronto!! I still have a good feeling that something is going to come my way this week, so I'm staying positive. Like my favorite blue fish says "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming swimming..." (Its from "Finding Nemo" for all you people thinking I'm crazy).

Productive Day!!

Happy Monday beautifuls!! I had a wonderfully productive day today with N. We spent the day at the wonderful DMV! LOL! I of course mean wonderful dmv in a sarcastic way :D So N and I got there before my sister and it was already getting super crowded. It was Monday AND its the DMV, it was bound to be packed! So we wait in line and show the super giddy, happy go lucky woman at the counter (another sarcastic moment I just had), get our cars inspected by the Mr. Inspector, go back, stand in line, see the same super giddy woman and get a number and wait to get our registration on our cars and my new California drivers license. I love to people watch, so to be honest, it really didn't bug me too much to sit there. A pleasant surprise walked in the door too.....MY FAITHFUL READER, MY GRAMMA!! She stayed around for about 10 minutes and kept N and I company. I will tell you, I was SO nervous for those 2 hours prior to our number being called. My stomach was in knots! I knew I had studied, but still. I get crazy nervous right before anything that matters. Like Dr. and dentist appointments. I am silly I know, but anything like that makes my stomach twist. N was trying to calm me down the whole time(thank you baby xoxo), so towards the end I was doing my yoga breathing and it works! Believe it people, yoga breathing is something you should practice and put to use when you feel the urge to flee to the nearest bathroom and risk losing your place in a government run building. So, anywhooo, after all of that, I PASSED!! Just like N and I knew I would! I missed 1 on my test and you can only miss 3. N and I were starvin marvin after the long successful day, with our registration done and my offical California license(we got there at 9:15AM and left at 1pm), N was wanting to try those new jalepeno nachos over at Taco Bell, so I got 2 fresco crunchy tacos and he got his nachos. A great way to celebrate the productive day!

After we got home and devoured our Taco Bell, N crashed on the couch with his book and I grabbed the laptop and cozied myself on it to apply for some jobs. My mom read to me that California is #43 out of the 50 states where its hard to find a job. YIKES!! I thank the good lord above every night that N got his job. Such a blessing in so many ways. I can feel something good is coming this week though. I can just feel it! Oh speaking of this week: I have a goal. To run 3 miles EVERYDAY and pick a DVD to do (Either shredding it up with Ms. Jill Michaels or Bootcamp with Bobby Harper) 3 times. I have 5 days, so I confident in my capability to do this. N starts his job on Friday (more like orientation, work offically starts on Monday), so that will be a day that I run and do a DVD. Maybe I'll meet Bestie Bon Bon and little Miss Aly for lunch on Friday? Hmmm..... La Bou *drool*.

I hope you all had a fabulous Monday and have an amazing work week! Trust me, I am a bit jealous on all you guys that have a job...with health insurance :D

So. My interview yesterday...

It went really good!! I met with my hiring agent and she was wonderful! She was so upbeat and positive about everything so I got a great vibe. This job market right now is crazy and unpredictable people, so I am willing to bend a bit on what I want in a job. Like her and I were talking yesterday about if I would be willing to take a bit of a pay cut, if the job were super close to where I live and if I would be willing to drive a bit further if I was compensated more for it. Its something I gotta do. She said she is going to be in contact with me a lot to let me know what jobs come by her and she said there are a few companies that she knows of that are getting ready to hire a receptionist!!! I am so excited to start working too cause #1, I get health insurance(more on that later) and #2, N and I are going to start looking for our very first house!!! I am so excited about this due to obvious reasons. If we could close on a house by the end of the year it would be even more brilliant since we get that tax credit of up to $8K! VERY NICE!! We already have our areas where we are thinking and we already know what real estate agent we are gonna go through. She was the one who sold my sisters house and they loved her. We've also already been in contact wither her :D Do you think we're excited?

So to refer back to the #2 reason why I am excited to have a job like N, is because of health insurance. I had my prescriptions transferred to the CVS here and I went to go pick them up and I had a nasty taste of reality served to me. One of my prescriptions WITHOUT insurance was $237!!!! This is medicine for my asthma mind you and it still wasn't worth the money to me. I almost choked when that little cashier pulled me aside and was like "Are you sure you wanna get it?" No thank YOU! I'll figure something else out. I think what we are going to do is wait till N gets his health benefits 90 days after he starts his job. So hopefully I will have a job by then too that offers benefits, but if I don't I'm not gonna get benefits till October with his company.

Have a great weekend blog readers!! I have no plans other than a birthday party for Bestie Bon Bon's little baby who is turning 1 on Sunday. Then on Monday my sister and I are planning on planting our butts bright and early at the DMV so we can take our driver's license tests and get our registration for California!! Wash that North Carolina stuff right off!!

Interview and picy pic's

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope your weekend was fabulous!! My little Bunny Boo was dropped off at 5th grade today and we got to walk her to her class and all!! It was bringing back hella good memories being back at my old elemtary school :D Oh they were the best years of my life! 5th grade was by far my favorite!! I had the best time with Bestie since we were 4 years old and the field trips were awesome! So after we dropped her off, my sister and I went to pick up our driving manuals to take our California test to get our licenses back! Oh I can't wait cause I think the CA licenses are prettier than the NC one's. So I have to study up and hopefully I can take the test and get my car registered either this week or by next Monday....we shall see. So when I got back, I had a message on the answering machine and guess who it was from?! Another hiring agency and they wanna meet with me on Thursday to interview for a couple receptionist jobs they have avilable!!! The lady who I spoke to sounded promising :D So I am excited about that.

Oh and N and I have a date night on Thursday!!! I am so excited!! I am taking him to that Afghan restrauant I told you guys about that I went to last week. It's also a hooka bar, so we are gonna do a hooka while we are there. I am happy cause N and I need a date night just the 2 of us. Maybe have a glass of wine or 2 as well :D

So here are the pics of us driving across country like I promised :) I am at the coffee house so I have mucho internet connection to post them all

PS: You guys would be so proud. I am doing great with my workouts!!! I plan on working out this afternoon on the tready (treadmill) and then visiting Ms. Jill!
