Le Sigh

So I stalk skinny runner's blog. This girl cracks me up, and she motivates the HECK outta me to run even when I don't wanna. So ever since I saw her carrying this purse, I have been secretly dreaming about it ever since. I have NEVER been one to drop major $$ on a purse, but when I have a purse I love, I use it for a long time. My birthday is in September, and yes I know that's 4 months away, but after thinking about it for a couple months (I know, I'm crazy for thinking about my bday 9 months before), I have found that THIS Kate Spade purse is what I want. Not only that, but I have found a couple promotional codes, that takes $73 off this purse AND their offering free ground shipping. So the purse comes to $292 with all the fees, originally $325. Since Skinny Runner can do no wrong in my eyes, I am copying her to a 'T' with the color I want - the red :)

This is such a classic purse and it's one that I'd keep and love forever :) (think about it mama :) )

Onto workouts, you know..the important things in life. So yesterday Nick opted to stay home from the gym, but I forged ahead. I took full advantage of my gym time and decided to try something new - the stair stepper. Different from the stair master, the stair stepper is actually climbing stairs. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF CHANGING YOUR ROUTINE. Holy moly, my legs were on fiya! I did only 15 minutes (75 floors!!!), and then it was onto legs. My little black shorts are burned in my mind, and I was pushing hard my friends. I had my own little last chance workout in the gym, sans Jillian and Bob. Today Nick and I are back to the gym and it'll be back on that stair stepper torture device, and abs, back and triceps. I'm just a tad short of this (*insert sarcasm here*)

so you can see my reasoning in wanting to continue to work them till they pop.

Happy Hangover Day

Anyone feelin like Nick Nolte after a too much Cinco De Mayo celebrations?

Nick and I had dinner with my mamacita and my Bunny Boo (niece for you newbies) at Chipotle and let me tell you...it was WAY better than standing in a packed bar/restaurant with the whole city I live in. Last night was such a great night, and we even got to enjoy a LIVE mariachi band. In FACT, the Mariachi band was at the place across the street, but it was so loud, all surrounding restaurants got to enjoy it. And did you all know that Chipotle serves Margaritas?! I had no idea until a girl I work with mentioned in yesterday. So yeah..I was sold on Chipotle as soon as I heard that.

Knowing I was gonna have some chips and guac (side note: Chipotle has the BEST guac, who woulda thought?!). So I cut the unnecessary calories and carbs where I could. So I had my usual: a chicken burrito bowl with lettuce, black beans, rice (yah yeah, unnecessary carb, but I love their rice), tomatos, guacomole, and HOT salsa.

With all this talk about food, thank GOD I worked it at XBike yesterday. I was THRILLED to actually be able to do it. If you refer back to my blog last Wednesday, I went to the gym thinking it was level 1 X Bike I was going to attend, but alas, it turned out to be level 2 (30 minutes is enough for me, thanks). So you can imagine how excited I was when it WAS in fact level 1 yesterday, and I KNEW I was in store for a detoxing sweat session. I know I say it time and time again, but, it is a CRAZY intense workout, people. Those of you who have done a spin class, can understand when I say, you will be dripping from EVERY pore. Every minute I was in there, I watched the clock because I don't think I can make it. Switching your workouts up (in weights and in cardio), is a great way to throw your body for a loop, and to challenge it. I can run and run, but put me in an Xbike class for 30 minutes, and I am determined to work it harder than Jon Gosselin trying to find his next sugar mama/arm candy.

For once in a loooooooong time, I have actually stayed on my workout plan to a T that I set for myself on Monday. It always seems like "life happens", and it stalls my workout agenda. NOT this week. I am DETERMINED to rock some short shorts this summer. When I want to stop and walk on Tread, I think back to that dressing room when I tried my little shorts on and though, "Okay Karli - get the shorts, work those legs for 3 weeks, and theeeen work those shorts" (Yes, I do talk to myself like this, LOL). So I am well on my way :)

Great news of the day: It's THURSDAY, meaning tomorrow is Friday, WOO HOO! Am I seriously the only one who starts wishing it was Friday on a Monday? This weekend is gonna be a very relaxing weekend with Mothers Day on Sunday and all. Since I know my mamacita reads my blog, I won't be revealing what I'm getting her, but it's a good one :)

Totally random:

2 Movies I am literally counting down to:

What girl ISN'T?!?!? I need to buy my tickets after I round up my ladies

I LOVE the story of Robin Hood, and I love me some Russell Crowe :)

Proactiv and other Tuesday ramblings

Happy BEAUTIFUL Tuesday morning to you guys!! It's another gorgeous morning here in Sacramento.

So a few posts back, I mentioned that I have been using a Murad face wash to combat this acne that decided to grace my face (6 months POST going off BC mind you, so it really threw me for a loop). It really has done wonders. It's cleared up the major breakouts, but I still am getting new undergrounder zit, boo!! It's horrible! When I was on my birth control, my face was super clear and I felt like I could go w/out concealer and I NEVER wore foundation. So the stuff that's happening now, is just not okay.

I had a few friends who used Proactiv in high school and had great results (as well as Katy Perry, Avril Lavigne, Julianne Hough). My only concern was that when I got pregnant, would it be okay to use still? After much research (what would I do without google?!), it's totally safe to use and in fact, I read a couple reviews from women who used it during their pregnancy breakouts, and it worked wonderfully. So I ordered it! I am SO excited to try this bad boy product out. I want to kick this last bit of acne to the curb and have really good skin for the summer time. Who wants to wear a butt ton of concealer during the hot summer days and nights? Not me!

Onto other things: Nick signed all his paperwork for his new job :)!! We are truly so blessed, and God really does answer prayers. He starts tomorrow, woo hooo!!!

Yesterday as promised, I stuck to my workout schedule for Monday (snaps for Karli!) Nick and I went on our run/ride since it was just so nice outside. However, I was not the smartest of girls, and I totally didn't hydrate enough before the run. So when I should have looked like this:

I looked like this:

Get the picture? I stopped I think 2-3 times during our run, since one of dehydration's side effects are nausea, BUT who do I see running by us with ease? A young woman in nothing but her perfect sports bra and her perfect matching shorts, pushing her perfect jogging stroller. Oh and there was a baby in the stroller. Oh and the woman...HAD A 6 PACK! So I dug down deep into my motivational running quotes bank in my brain, and pushed through the nausea and sweat and thirst (do not attempt at home :) ). I made it though! Nick was so proud and even started the shower for me cause he loves me like that...or thinks I stink, lol. So I ran about 3.5 miles yesterday and today it's back to the office (aka, the gym) for upper body and another 3 miles on Tread.

What have YOU done today to make you feel proud?

Let's make it a good Monday

So it's back to Monday lovelies. I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I follow blogs of people who live in the Nashville area and this is just terrible! My prayers are with everyone there.

My weekend was quite nice - since my hubby got promoted, I treated myself to a little shopping. Old Navy was having a 30% off EVERYTHING in the store sale Friday - Sunday, so of course I had to see what the big fuss was about. I walked out with 2 really cute tops and 1 pair of pants that I love. I could only find a pic of the pants online:

They are very flattering and I got them in black since I needed black pants. They will be great for warm summer nights with some wedges and a cute tank too.

Speaking of wedges, look at what I picked up at DSW-

HOT, right? I had never been in there before and holy moly!! I have found the best place for wedges and heels and flats and tennis shoes :) Seriously, they have everything!! My mother in law was kind enough to send me a gift card for my bday, and I just got around to using it. I am in heaven with these shoes.

The weather couldn't have been more gorgeous! Although, I sadly was unable to lay about by the pool since it was a tad too windy for that. Plus my weekend was pretty busy with shopping and yesterday it was my mama's birthday. I also was a productive maniac and cleaned the entire apartment. It looks amazing and it's sparkly more than Ryan Seacrest's smile

Oh so you ready for the mandatory workout plan for the week? Here is it:

Monday: 3 mile run
Tuesday: 3 mile run with upper body strength training
Wednesday: 3 mile run with legs
Thursday: 30 minute walk on incline with upper body and ab training
Friday: Rest
Saturday: Shred and run/ride

Make it a great day beautifuls!! Just cause it's Monday, doesn't mean it can't be a great day.....right?

Getting to know you Sunday

1. Are you superstitious?
No, but I do think when full moons appear, people get really crabby and people's moods tend to change. I do knock on wood though, so I guess I'm a little superstitious with jinxing myself

2. If you were an animal, what kind would you be?
Most definitely a cat - they can survive pretty good on their own and all they do is sleep and eat and play

3. You would never catch me wearing....?
socks with sandals! haha, Nick did this once waaaaay back in the day when we first got married. He's so cute :)

4. If someone posts a vlog, do you watch it?
Honestly, no. I might if I'm bored, but usually I am someone who likes to read people's blogs and look at pics

5. Have you ever waxed your girly/manly parts...or any other part of your body?
Ummm, guilty. I used to get my "girly parts" (hehe) waxed once a month when I used to work at a day spa and even kept it up when I quit (horrible manager!). Now that I would have to pay full price, no thanks :) I get my eye brows waxed every now and again when they get uneven and I can't fix them.

6. Are you a spender or a saver?
Well I used to be super spendy, but now Nick is in control of the money, so he gives me my monthly allowance, hehe. Saving money feels way better then spending it though. Makes me feel safer in this economy.

7. If you were starring in a film, who would you want to play your leading man?
Either Jason Statham or Gerard Butler for sure

8. Smoker...never smoked...social smoker...or smoked back in the day?
Back in HS, I tried to be a social smoker cause it looked cool, but then I'd get horrible asthma attacks for a week straight, so it's a no go for me :)

Your turn :)

AND IT'S GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My stellar rockstar of a husband heard back today re: the job that he interviewed about a month ago, and they called him today..................

HE GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love you baby, congratulations x infinite + 1!

It's back!

The weekend is soon to be upon us ladies and gents and it's shaping out to be a gorgeous one:

And did you check out the weather for the following week? No more of this "Gorgeous weekend, this crappy weather" trend Sacramento has been having (knock on wood).

Workouts have been going well and eating has been pretty good too. I went into the gym after work on Wednesday, full prepared to do my 30 minute Xbike class, when what do I hear over the loud speaker? "Level 2 (45 minutes!!!) XBike class will be starting in 5 minutes". Ummmmmmm, yeaaaah, about that....so NOT happening. I mean, I know I could do 45 minutes, but I don't WANT to do 45 minutes. 30 minutes is plenty for this girl, thanks very much. I was determined to workout Wednesday, so I wasn't about to leave. The thing was though, I didn't have my headphones to listen to music while I did cardio. If your like me, cardio without music is like macaroni without cheese - you just know, something is missing and you won't be feelin it. BUT, like I said, I was determined. So I set that speed to a steady warm up pace of 5.7 mph until I was loosened up, and it was to 6.0. Thank GOD Judge Judy was on, or else those 3 miles would have draaaagged. I was so proud when I got off Tread. There were so many times I wanted to stop, just outta boredom and the fact I was over listing to mine and everyone elses' feet hit that rubber track. Oh and it didn't stop there - I took full advantage of my gym time by taking myself over to the weights and pumped out a full leg/lower back session - BOO YA!

Yesterday Nick and I went for a SHORT SHORT run/ride. I'd say it was 1 mile, maybe 1.5 miles, but it was still really nice to get out in the gorgeous weather and be active.

Today I'm resting, but still went on my walk with the ladies from work on our lunch. It's seriously GORGEOUS outside - 77 and breezy with pure sunshine. There is something to be said for getting that blood pumping on that 1 hour break. I come back to my desk with way more energy and drive to actually DO my work :)

Have a GREAT rest of your Friday lovelies :)
