And we're back!

N and I just got back from our run/ride. We went about 5.15 miles and it was fabulous! As promised, here are some pics. I tried to upload a video, but it wasn't downloading right :( We got to a point on the trail that met up with a popular recreational area where people can rent kayaks and things like that. There was some boat club and they were having a race with them.

It was great to be out in nature actually LIVING! I can't imagine 2 or even 3 years ago, if you would have told me running that far or even being outdoorsy, I would have believed you. My my, how things change (for the better). Oh and before I post pics, let me just tell you, we passed a TON of bikers. Not just people on bikes who were doing a lazy Sunday stroll. No. The kind that zoom up on the right or left of you and take every part of their ride EXTREMELY seriously. Down to the dorky rear view mirror on their helmet and matching spandex shirts and pants, which btw, some of them just SHOULDN'T have been sporting. But I guess I gotta share the road :)

Heading out pre sweat
Just leaving the casa- this pond is right behind our place and at night and our windows are open, you can hear frogs, its the best!

Halfway point on the river- you can't see, but I was trying to be artsy fartsy when the birds were taking off on the water on the right of the picture

N had to readjust his seat a couple of times- hey, it's expected with a new badass bike

N and I had a lot of fun and it was nice quality time with eachother. We've decided to do it once a week, which I couldn't be happier about :) Love working up a sweat with my hottie hubbs!

Shake it like a polaroid picture

Hello are you beautiful GORGEOUS bloggies out there! Are you all bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning? I never got that expression when my mom would say it - it's like "hellllooo..I'm NOT a rodent that likes to irritate dogs by throwing acorns at them". I am one happy clam this morning- I got my coffee in bed and I am gearing up for a long run while N rides his brand spankin new bday bike next to me. I will take some pics with my iphone along the way to share with you guys. I just took Daisy Mae out to go potty and it's absolutley GORGEOUS outside and I am so looking forward to getting out there and getting active. The rest of this week is supposed to be crap as far as weather goes, so I'm taking full advantage of it today. Get that Vitamin D baby! Operation Fittess Possible before babies is still in full swing.

I am very excited to start my two-a-days on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (still unsure if I'm going to run on Fridays with the girls). Like I said in the previous post, there is just something about working out with friends that takes away the dread in running twice in one day. I mean, who doesn't love gabbing it up with the girls on the track? Catching up on the latest gossip while workin on that fitness.

So, what are your Sunday plans? Do you prefer to get a leg up on the upcoming week's workout, or do you just like to relax? Because I know I could use some motivation when that mile 4 comes up today and I'll need a little push when I wanna stop, here are some celebs workin it like the maniacs they are!

Fun with Friends

Good day mates! Hope your Saturday's are going amazing! I am enjoying mine to the fullest. I slept in to the bright and early time of 6:30 AM (thanks to waking up at 4:30 on the weekdays, there is no way I can sleep late), and enjoyed my coffee with my laptop in bed. No workout for me, cause I am going to be workin it on the running trail long and hard tomorrow with N and since I don't want to be burned out and dread running tomorrow, I am taking today as a rest day to grocery shop and cleaning my house cause it's lookin as clean as Charlie's Sheen jail record

Whenever you read workout magazines they always say that you should try working out with a friend if you ever feel like your in a slump with your workouts, maybe switch it up and workout with a friend. I went and had a little run around the junior high with one of my best friends since I was 8. She is training for her first 5K, and I love the social aspect (and exercise aspect), of meeting her and 2 of her friends after work. I am so used to just working out by myself at the gym, that it was nice to change the pace up adn it was a really nice way to end a day at work and just wind down before heading home. PLUUUUUUS that's 2 workouts a day happening 3 times a week. They run Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so that'll be my schedule for a bit :)

Do you guys have any workouts that don't feel like a workout? Or you just have fun doing more than the normal boring routine?

Mornin

So yeah. I haven't blogged in the past two days and I do apologize. On Tuesday, it was N's birthday (the big 2-6), and with getting dinner ready and doing cake, I had no time to jump online. Plus, it was his birthday and I wanted the day/night to be all about him (as it should be!). Yesterday there was just no excuse :)

So I'm a little down on myself and I'll tell you why. This week I have worked out Monday and Wednesday and I'm not working out this morning, but will be going Friday and Saturday and even taking a run (while N rides his brand spankin new bike) on the trails on Sunday. That being said, I DO feel kinda disappointed in myself that I didn't go this morning. I've been feeling sorta blah and kinda like I'm coming down with something, but it's mostly nausea, and I just didn't think it'd be best to push myself on Tread this morning. I was really looking forward to having my leg day today too btw, BUT I will do that tomorrow. I know people should have days off, but as you all know, it messes with my head if I don't break a sweat at least once a day. Actually I still may- my friend whom I grew up with his training for her 1st 5K with 2 other friends, and they invited me to meet them after work at the local junior high school to run the track. I am seriously considering this possibility depending how I feel when 5pm rolls around. I never get to run with friends either, so this might actually work out perfectly-I'll be sure to fill you in tomorrow AM.

I am actually really excited for mine and N's little run/ride on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be gorgeous, and not this cold grey stuff we've been having for what seems years! It'll actually be a farther run too- at least 3.5 miles. Not bad for a day that's supposed to be my "off day". I just love being active outside and since we had the last taste of Spring last week, I REALLY want to run outside. Maybe if I show you some pics of the trail, you'll understand.

Oh and while we are on the topic of exercise, I love how now (opposed to when I was just on a "diet" in HS), if I have an off day, I can turn it around and tomorrow will be a new day. Or if I eat some birthday cake (hey don't judge, it was homemade), I can just be fine with 1 piece and not beat myself up about it. Just get back on Tread the next morning. This is a LIFESTYLE. I get people telling me how amazed they are with my dedication and I just have to tell them, it's because it's my LIFESTYLE...not a little part in my life that will one day change. No, I want to live a healthy life and a strong and fit life, that is why I do what I do and will keep on doing it.

Have a WONDERFUL Thursday lovelies! We have almost made it to Friday, and is it me or has this week gone by really fast? I'm not complaining at all, just sayin.

Just another manic Monday

So- here we are- Monday-once again, a start of another work week. But you know what?! That's more dough in your pocket, so really we shouldn't be complaining, right? Right!

So like I promised, I have a recap of my eating this weekend & my 5 mile run!! The run was actually really therapeutic. I don't think I've sweat that much in my life at once, EVER! Not even in XBike. At about mile 3.23 (but who was looking at the counter on the treadmill, right? hehe), I wanted to walk sooooooooooooo bad. I wanted to just jump on the side of Tread and stop and call it good. But do you know what happened? I looked down on my iphone and there was a text from N telling me exactly what I needed to hear. I won't tell you in exact detail, BUT I will tell you, he knew the right words to keep me running. So there you have it- need motivation? Get yourself an N :)
As for eating clean this weekend- I give myself a B-. I didn't do too shabby, but there were a couple things I could have done better. Saturday was really good, only had 1 serving of dinner and had a SMALL glass of chocolate soy milk for dessert. Sunday we had a family BBQ, complete with pasta salad, spinach dip, and those Costco polish dogs. For dessert- a double chocolate cake from Costco, and it was uh-mazing! Thank GOD I'm not a diabetic, cause that bad boy would have slipped me right into a coma for sure. I SHOULD have had a smaller piece, but to my credit, the piece I had wasn't even that big, BUT I coulda made it smaller for sure. I did however, only eat the frosting (HEHE), and throw the actual cake away. I believe nutritionist everywhere are yelling at me, telling me I got it backwards- when I should have thrown away the icing and kept the cake, BUT oh well.
This morning I was NOT wanting to wake up- my throat hurt a little bit and I just didn't FEEL LIKE running. How's that an excuse for you? I don't "feel like" running, but I also don't feel like feeling like a blob later at my desk, wishing I had run. So- I got up, threw my clothes on, threw my hair up, and faced the day. I worked my ass those 2.23 miles (that chocolate cake was weighing me down for sure!), and pumped some iron (upper body day). Speaking of which, Oxygen's March issue just came out, and there is month 3 of the body makeover program, and I'm seriously thinking of switching my routine up, and going with that one. It's always good to mix things up, and right now, my upper body routine is feeling a little vanilla to me. So-I'm sure there will be more on that later :)

I leave you with a quote that I saw in this month's Oxygen, and actually really like. Make it a great day beautifuls! Your worth it, your gorgeous, now OWN IT!!

"Whether you think you can or you think you can't, your're right"- Henry Ford

and just cause it's Monday and we all need a push (and Jamie Eason is GORGEOUS)& to me, this is the ultimate fit body...

Dun Dun DUUUUUN!!

It's my day for the 5 miler!! EEEEK!! I have never ever before ran 5 miles at once, so this shall be interesting. I am assuming I will be covered in sweat by the time I step off that treadmill. I wish I could run outside since last weekend was the BEST taste of Spring a girl could ask for, but it is raining. It was the California weather that I looooove in the beginning of the week as well, but alas, I was reminded that it's February pretty quick when the rain clouds came.

I am getting ready with my coffee with sugar free vanilla creamer while I lay here in bed typing and trying to catch up on The Bad Girls Club. Why is it that I am addicted to non educational, mindless shows filled with not so classy people? Hmmm....? Oh and btw, I got a couple of emails from you lovely concerned people whom I love (aka my faithful readers), and the doctor appointment yesterday was just for a physical that every woman should get every year- promise no baby stuff or anything else like that.

Today is a busy one folks and I plan on making it a great one! My goal for today: EAT AS CLEAN as possible! Why this is hard for me to do on the weekends- I have no clue, but I am sticking to my guns (which hurt from yesterday's heavy bench presses), this weekend. Actually, that is the goal this WHOLE weekend- I know more than one of you can relate to me when I say, that when the weekend comes it seems like I just let go of my good eating habits from the week. All week I eat SUPER clean and control my cravings, but when the weekend comes, I get more lax. Now I'm not saying, don't indulge in the hamburger you've been craving (and then get right back on the good eating train), but I seem to just lose that motivation on the weekend. Sorta like "Well, I've been good alllll week, why not treat myself?" Well that's all fine and dandy, but treating myself, can hurt all my progress I killed myself for during the week. So- that's my challenge. I will be sure to fill you all in on Monday. I have a family BBQ to go to on Sunday, so it should be a challenge to stick to a clean eating clan on that one, but I'll do my best.

Off to OWN those 5 miles baby!! Have a splendid weekend cupcakes! (MMMmmm cupcakes!)

TGIF

Howdy and Welcome to Friday!! I am SO happy it's Friday- this week seems like it went so slow, even though it was a short week at work. My Friday is actually going to be a short one cause this lady has a doctors appointment for a checkup at 3:30, so I gotta leave a little before 3 from work. I have never been to this doctor before, so I'm sorta anxious. I always get super anxious when anything somewhat big is happening, it's so silly and I hate it, cause I get the WORSE butterflies which makes my stomach not so happy.

Today's workout consisted of upper body strength training. My stomach was a little upset this morning, so there was no running for me. I never do strength training before running, so it was actually refreshing to switch it up a bit. If you ever feel you are in a rut with your workouts, or just want to try something new, try doing your routine backwards or adding some of those machines your intimidated by. I promise you won't regret it :)

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!

Such a fat day

Do you ever have one of those days that you just wake up and feel like a blimp? That would be me today. So what did I do? I ran, not jogged, RAN, 3.5 miles! Yesterday was a leg day, so my legs felt like led this morning, but I ran! I was sweatin-straight up on fire! Those 3.5 miles felt like 3.5 million! That's what I get for not working out 3 day weekend. My body has gotten so used to working out 5-6 days a week, that any less than that and it starts to get a little too comfy (at least that's what I see when I look in the mirror).

Oh and I have to bring something up- as you all know, I have a tad bit of a girl crush on Jillian Michaels, and she is being blasted right now for her weight loss pills. Now, I am on the fence with this and I haven't had the chance yet to pick up the phone and call Jilly-bean to ask what the deal is, BUT I am kinda baffled that she even has these pills out. She has preached how there aren't any easy fixes and she sure as heck doesn't believe in pills, so it's sorta like a "huh?!" moment for me. Allegedly, these pills are giving people heart issues and such, but I have to say...WELL NO DUH! Did these people think they could just sit on their butts with their bucket o popcorn and just take a pill and POW- your the next girl to appear on Sports Illustrated and your dating Andy Roddick? The bottle WARNS you of the crazy side effects. Not only that, BUT don't every other weight loss pill out there, say rapid heart rate, nausea, dizziness can occur? That's what I thought- don't put MY girl on blast when YOU knew the side effects and it's not rocket science that weight loss quick fixes, aren't the answer and are a waste of money. Why JM would even put pills on the market, I have no clue, but we'll save that conversation for another day.

Do you guys have a song that pushes you thru that last couple of miles or couple of minutes? Let's hear it! I wanna know, THE song that kicks you in the arse when you need it, to keep yourself going. Do you picture something in your head, such as Jillian Michaels yelling in your face? My song today? Lifesong by Casting Crowns- nothing like a little spiritual inspiration to keep you running for the love of the big JC.

Sunless Tanners

HAPPY TUESDAY!!! Not only is The Biggest Loser all new tonight, but the new season of 16 and Pregnant is coming out tonight! What can I say- I love my reality shows. Which leads me to my question of the day for you all......
Could you please recommend a good, nay GREAT, tanning lotion? I HAVE to be tan- that's just how it is. It makes me feel a lot better about myself (as shallow as it may be) and I feel like I just look healthier with color. HOWEVER, I am unable to justify to N how I "NEEEEEED" to spend $20 a month on tanning. Sooooo, since the lotion would slow my aging process down a bit anyways, I need a good lotion. I've tried some that make my hands, knees, and ankles look orange and turned my sheets a orange shade (I have white sheets, so it CAN'T rub off like that). Oh and did I mention how I don't wanna look like Snooki Snickers?

My weekend in pictures

So I never did run those 5 miles on Saturday- I called it an emergency rest day because I've been feelin some pains in the old knees, and the last thing I want to do is burn myself out, so Saturday, Sunday, and today I'm not working out except the walking I'll be doing with grocery shopping and the cleaning our love shack today. Believe me, it's heavy duty cleaning, so I know it'll be a workout. I hope all of your Valentine's were good to you, I know mine was :) It was our 5 year anniversary- A-yo! We decided to stay in and not go out last minute. It was actually really nice. We went for our massages yesterday, went to Lowes (check out the pics of our patio in progress), and then came home to just relax and watch Couples Retreat (HILARIOUS!!!), and N even made it more romantic by making a fire. I decided if we weren't doing the going out on the town thing, I wanted to make our anniversary/V Day, cheeeesy- enter heart shaped pizza! haha! ANNND I made us each heart shaped personal cakes (We ended up sharing one). I thought I was being oober healthy by using a oil/shortening/butter subsitute for the cake and the frosting. It's made out of prunes and other various fruits. The verdict? The cake itself was delicious and most and the frosting? Eh, not toooo shabby, but it wasn't quite the vanilla frosting taste I wanted. N's verdict was to use REAL vanilla frosting next time on his. My anniversary gift from N? Well since my Romeo likes tradition, the 5 year anniversary gift is supposed to be wood, so he stuck to that to a 'T'! Only him and I would understand this joke with the saying, but let's just say, I LOVED his gift and I appreciated the thought that went into it. It's original and I love him evern more. So without further udo- here is my weekend in pictures.

The Patio- IN PROGRESS

N's brand spankin new BBQ (with a certain little ham infront)

Our little Oasis - IN PROGRESS

HEHE, N was crazy obsessed with me taking pictures like this for daaays- now I know why

So if the frosting was on neater, you could see the heart- trust me it's there- if I hadn't used the subsitute in the frosting, it would have been white

The start of our night

You can see how I try to justify my pizza is healthy with the few spinach leaves I had on the heap of mozarella and chedder

Just so you all can see what was in the subsitute

The cake mix- got it at Target for $3.99- not too shabby

I am on a blogging role today! I just signed up for this 5K in May. It's one I've wanted to be a part of for a long time. It is going to be nuts! THOUSANDS of people show up for this event & I hear it's an amazing event to be a part of. If you live in the Sacramento area you can click here to check it out OR you can see when the Race for the Cure is coming to your neck of the woods by clicking here

Spring/Summer

Miss Quite Contrary is talking about decorating her new patio and it's totally inspiring me to take a trip with N this long 3 day weekend to get stuff for ours! Hmm...I'm most def in a decorating mood (with the patio) now! The patio is the only thing we haven't really touched in terms of decor. N and I were just sitting on our patio this past weekend admiring how we have a really nice quiet park like view from our place. Hmm...sounds like Lowes and Home Depot just might be in order this weekend! Check out QC's post by clicking here
